Overview

Create and manage control groups and controls for Virtual Catalog inventory

How it Works

Take Control of Inventory Exposure with Virtual Catalog Controls
Virtual Catalog Controls enable businesses to manage how inventory is exposed and sold within each Virtual Catalog by applying rule based buffers and exclusions that directly impact Available to Sell (ATS). Instead of relying solely on stock on hand, Controls ensure ATS reflects real world business constraints and provide consistent, channel specific inventory governance. Using Controls, you can:
  • Exclude specific SKUs or entire product categories from a Virtual Catalog
  • Apply safety stock or buffer quantities to protect inventory
  • Adjust available stock by SKU, category, or location
These rules ensure Available to Sell (ATS) reflects real world business constraints. Without Controls, availability is driven solely by stock on hand, limiting how inventory can be protected or selectively exposed.

Who is this feature for?
This feature is best suited for:
  • Merchandising teams managing multiple Virtual Catalogs
  • Operations and supply chain teams responsible for Available to Sell accuracy
  • Commerce teams needing precise control over inventory exposure
  • Businesses operating across multiple locations or sales channels

What is the business value?
Virtual Catalog Controls enable:
  • Inventory protection: Buffers allow safety stock to be managed by SKU, category, or location
  • Operational efficiency: Centralized rules remove the need for manual inventory adjustments
  • Accurate availability: Exclusions ensure unavailable products are never exposed for sale
  • Stronger inventory governance: Consistent, prioritized Controls define how Available to Sell is calculated within each Virtual Catalog
