This article provides an overview of the different fulfilment types used in the OOTB workflow.
When orders are placed in the Order Module, an event is sent to the Inventory Catalogue to reserve the purchased inventory quantity. This will trigger a recalculation of the Inventory Position and any related Virtual Positions.
When orders are fulfilled in stores, the Store Fulfilment module sends an event to the Inventory Catalogue to confirm the fulfilled quantity. This will trigger a recalculation of the Inventory Position and any related Virtual Positions.
When orders are cancelled or short-picked due to a shortage of inventory, the Store Fulfilment module sends an event to the Inventory Catalogue with the cancelled inventory quantities. This will trigger a recalculation of the Inventory and any related Virtual Positions.
